The Science Behind Ear Pro

Ear Pro is a carefully designed and extremely effective combination of two very well researched ingredients – Medical Grade Mineral Oil and High Grade Organic Oregano Oil.

Medical Grade Mineral Oil, also known as paraffinum liquidum or pharmaceutical grade mineral oil, is the most highly refined level of mineral oil. Food grade mineral oil, which you use for keeping cutting blocks and wooden utensils in good condition, is considered safe for human ingestion. Ear Pro uses the most highly refined medical / pharmaceutical grade mineral oil available which is far more refined than food grade oil.

One key advantages of mineral oil over any plant-based oil is its superior hydrophobic properties (water repellent). Mineral oil is a large molecule which attaches to the outer layer of skin but is not absorbed by it. It acts as a barrier to polar molecules such as water, not allowing it to pass through or stick to it, think Rain-X. In your ear canal it will not allow the water in your skin to leave, which keeps your skin moisturized and healthy. Anyone who has spent a lot of time in salt water specifically, knows how it can dry out your skin. This thin layer of oil also prevents water from getting into your skin or “sticking” to it. This means that water entering your ears from the environment will wash in and right out again without getting a foothold. If that water is carrying any nasty bacteria, this also prevents it from “sticking” and causing trouble.

Another advantage of mineral oil over plant-based oils is the fact that it does not spoil. Oils such as olive oil or avocado oil have a very short shelf life. Your typical olive oil will have a 12 to 18 month shelf life. Walnut or truffle oil lasts only 3-4 months and refrigeration only extends it a short time. I am sure most of you have opened a bottle of plant oil that was in the back of the cupboard only to get a lovely whiff of its rotting odor. As it gets closer to its end of life it also loses its water repellent properties. Mineral oil does not.  Ear Pro has a legal shelf life of three years but it should remain good for use long after that.

Organic Oregano Oil has been used in medicine since Ancient Greece and likely much longer than that.  It is one of the best researched of the essential oils and has been shown in clinical studies to be extremely effective as an anti-microbial. A recent study testing 6 essential oils against the most common human pathogens found that oregano oil is by far the most effective of all the oils tested. Its high level of Carvacrol was especially effective against the two most common pathogenic bacteria associated with ear issues (Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Medical studies are ongoing all over the world pitting oregano oil against all manner of human pathogens and are coming back with excellent results.

Ear Pro uses only the highest grade Organic Oregano Oil with more than 85% carvacrol.

Antibiotic Resistance is the trend where bacteria and other pathogens are becoming resistant to antibiotics due to overuse. At present, ear problems are one of the most common reasons for visits to the emergency room especially for children and antibiotics are prescribed in the vast majority of the cases. Antibiotics are getting less effective and also pharmaceutical companies are finding fewer options for new antibiotics. Antibiotic resistance is cited by the World Health Organization as one of the biggest threats to global health, food security and development today.

Ear Pro was designed as a preventative: not only does it prevent the uncomfortable feeling of water trapped in your ear, but it also provides a barrier from bad bacteria getting in your ears and causing trouble there. Why take the chance of a late-night emergency room visit and the need of antibiotics? One spray in each ear before you jump in the water is all you need. Protect your hearing and health naturally with Ear Pro.
